Jet Ski Rental Austin: Everything You Need to Know Before You Book

Looking for jet ski rentals in Austin? You're in the right place. Lake Austin is the best spot in the city for jet skiing — calmer water than Lake Travis, fewer boats, and one of the most scenic stretches of river in Central Texas. Here's everything you need to know before you book.

Where to Rent Jet Skis in Austin

Surf Club ATX operates out of Loop 360 Boat Ramp (5019 TX-360 Loop, Austin TX 78746) — the main public access point on Lake Austin. We offer Sea-Doo jet ski rentals for groups of 2, 3, or 4 riders. No experience is required. Every rental includes a safety briefing from our crew before you hit the water.

How Much Does Jet Ski Rental Cost in Austin?

Jet ski rental pricing in Austin varies by the number of skis and the duration. At Surf Club ATX, a 2-ski rental for 2 hours runs $450. Three skis for 1 hour is $375. Four skis for 1 or 2 hours range from $399 to $799. All rentals are for the entire group — not per person — so they're great value for parties and families.

Do I Need a License to Ride a Jet Ski in Texas?

In Texas, riders born on or after September 1, 1993 are required to complete a boating safety course to operate a personal watercraft. If you haven't done this, don't worry — our team handles the safety briefing on-site. Riders must be at least 16 years old with a valid ID.

What to Bring for Your Jet Ski Rental

You'll want to bring: a valid government-issued ID, sunscreen (apply before you arrive — it goes fast on the water), a change of clothes, and a towel. Leave anything valuable in your car. We provide life jackets. Wear clothes you're comfortable getting completely soaked in.

Is Lake Austin Good for Jet Skiing?

Yes — and arguably better than Lake Travis for most riders. Lake Austin is narrower and more sheltered, which means calmer water, less chop from boat traffic, and a more consistent ride. The 360 Bridge, wooded limestone cliffs, and waterfront mansions make it one of the most scenic jet ski routes in Texas. You'll want to take your phone — the views are that good.

How Far in Advance Should I Book?

Weekend slots from April through October book 1 to 3 weeks in advance. Weekdays are more flexible and often available with just a few days' notice. If you have a specific date — especially a birthday, bachelorette party, or holiday weekend — book as early as possible. Same-day bookings are possible but availability is limited.

Can I Combine Jet Skis with a Boat Charter?

Absolutely. Many groups book a jet ski rental in the morning and a wakesurf or Party Cove boat charter in the afternoon. Surf Club ATX offers both from the same location, so you can make it a full day on Lake Austin with minimal logistics. Contact us and we'll help you plan the perfect combo.
